MHA signs MoU with SECI to set up solar panels on CAPF, NSG campuses


Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) on 6th May 2022 in New Delhi to harness the potential of solar energy on the available rooftop locations on the campuses of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and National Security Guard (NSG).

The MoU was signed by MHA, Joint Secretary, Rakesh Kumar Singh, and Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI), MD, Suman Sharma in the presence of Union Home Secretary, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, and Secretary Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi.

The MoU is a step ahead toward the green power supply to the country's security forces and reinforces the government's commitment to a sustainable future. The MoU will support MHA in executing rooftop solar plants under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model.

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), a Public Sector Undertakings (PSU) under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), is engaged in the promotion and development of different renewable energy resources. SECI is also the designated executing agency for many Government renewable energy (RE) schemes like Viability Gap Funding (VGF) schemes, inter-state transmission system projects (ISTS) schemes, and Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) schemes, etc.

Suman Sharma told the media that SECI is pleased to serve the government of India by fulfilling its climate commitments of India and looks forward to growing the rooftop solar sector to the remotest corners of India.
