MEPZ SEZ Approves Investments, Creating 713 Jobs
The Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is making significant strides in boosting Tamil Nadu’s economy while promoting inclusivity. During the latest Unit Approval Committee (UAC) meeting, chaired by Alex Paul Menon, three industrial units received approval, securing Rs 1.17 billion in investments and generating 713 new job opportunities in the region.
A noteworthy achievement is that 20 transgender individuals will be joining the workforce through these new approvals, underscoring MEPZ SEZ's commitment to fostering diversity and equal opportunities in the workplace.
One of the key approvals was for Keum Woo Textile India Pvt. Ltd., which brings in a Rs 389 million investment and will create 218 jobs.
With a cumulative investment exceeding Rs 55 billion for the 2024-25 fiscal year, MEPZ SEZ is set to generate employment for 35,800 individuals, further proving that industrial success and social progress can coexist.
