MCG to reconstruct arterial roads in Sector 52 linking key stretches

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has decided to reconstruct and repair portions of arterial routes in Sector 52 following complaints from councillors and residents about the poor quality of construction.

Sector 52's arterial routes connect major thoroughfares such as Golf Course Road (GCR), Golf Course Extension Road (GCER), Vikas Marg, Ambedkar Road, Artemis Road, and other major thoroughfares.

Commuters in and around Sector 52 may find it easier to get around as the MCG plans to repair the area. Other significant projects approved by the administration include the construction of new box-type stormwater drains, footpaths, and sewer lines, among others.

The finance and contract committee (F&CC) of the Gurugram civic body met on Monday and approved the budget as well as the administrative approval of Rs 2.33 crore for this project.

The F&CC also gave 10 developmental projects administrative approval and approved the tender allotment of five developmental projects.

Madhu Azad, the mayor of Gurugram, has directed the MCG's engineering wing to reassess all F&CC-approved projects.

Azad issued a stern warning, saying that no compromise in the quality of development work will be tolerated and that all civic officers have been directed to complete the work within the timeframes set forth.

Aside from that, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) aims to carry out special repairs on a 2.1 km long master road in the vicinity of Sectors 64 and 67.

Sector 52, which was previously under the control of the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), was transferred to the MCG in 2018.

Officials from the MCG intend to improve amenities in all HSPV sectors that have been transferred to the civic body. The roads in this area, according to an official from the engineering wing, need to be well-laid to help commuters and avoid traffic congestion.
