Mayor Unveils New Waste Management Facility in Shahdara
On December 3, Delhi Mayor Mahesh Kumar inaugurated a newly constructed Fixed Compactor Transfer Station (FCTS) in Ward No. 240, Joharipur, Shahdara North Zone. The event was attended by local councilor Shri Roshan Lal Sagar, Ms. Poonam Nirmal, Chaudhary Jaswant, and senior officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
The Mayor explained that the FCTS, which will handle waste from three nearby wards, represents a significant advancement in Delhi’s waste management system. He emphasized that phasing out dhalav ghars and introducing FCTS would ensure proper garbage disposal, prevent open waste spillage, and improve cleanliness. Shri Kumar also underscored the role of the public in maintaining cleanliness.
During the event, Mahesh Kumar praised the efforts of Roshan Lal Sagar, crediting him for the establishment of the FCTS in Joharipur due to his dedication. The Mayor also inspected the area’s main road and issued directives to enhance the local cleanliness infrastructure.
Reaffirming the Aam Aadmi Party’s commitment to a garbage-free Delhi, Kumar stated that MCD was working in mission mode to achieve this goal. He added that keeping Delhi clean was a primary responsibility, and councillors across the city were putting in considerable effort to accomplish this.
