L&T will be responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the centre, which will be equipped with advanced AI capabilities to power next-generation AI applications, minimise environmental impact and maximise energy efficiency. The data centre will also be equipped with security measures to protect sensitive data. L&T's renewables business vertical was selected by Masdar, one of the preferred EPC contractors for the the north site of the world's first 24/7 solar PV and battery storage gigascale project to be built in Abu Dhabi.

The project will feature a 5.2GW (DC) solar photovoltaic (PV) plant and both coupled with a 19 gigawatt-hour (GWh) BESS, making it the largest solar and BESS project in the world, the company said.
