L&T Construction secures major power transmission orders


L&T Construction announced that its Power Transmission & Distribution business had secured key orders in India and overseas during the current quarter. In Chhattisgarh, the business received an order to establish 400kV & 220kV transmission lines to alleviate congestion in the state?s electricity transmission grid.

In Saudi Arabia, an order was bagged for the turnkey construction of a 380kV Substation with associated overhead transmission lines. Another order was secured in Kuwait to construct 5 substations to provide reliable and efficient power supply to an upcoming residential city. Additional orders were won in on-going substation projects in Qatar.

In a significant breakthrough, the business also secured an order in Malaysia, in a consortium, to establish a 275kV Underground Cable system to double the power transmission capacity in the existing network.

According to the company, the value of a significant order ranged between Rs 10 billion and Rs 25 billion, large orders were worth Rs 25 billion- Rs 50 billion, major orders were in the range of Rs 50 billion- Rs 70 billion, and mega orders were worth above Rs 70 billion.

Larsen & Toubro, a $23 billion Indian multinational engaged in EPC Projects, Hi-Tech Manufacturing, and Services, stated that it operates in over 50 countries worldwide.
