A joint team of LDA and Army officials, led by Colonel Shrikanth Govind Kumar, conducted a site survey to finalise land markings. The Ministry of Defence has already approved the use of 21.81 hectares of Army land for this project.

The dam and road will pass through 2.8 km of Army land in the Cantonment area, establishing a direct link between the Cantonment and the airport. The project is designed to ease travel for Army personnel, residents, and civilians while mitigating rain-induced waterlogging in the area, according to an LDA release.

LDA chairman Prathamesh Kumar confirmed that the project had received approval following a meeting with the joint secretary (land and works) of the Defence Ministry in Delhi. He mentioned that pillar installation would be completed within a week, after which construction would commence.

In response to concerns about dividing Army land, the LDA plans to construct three underpasses or rotaries to ensure smooth internal movement within the cantonment.

LDA additional secretary Gyanendra Verma stated that these structures would maintain connectivity and security. He also highlighted that the 5.8 km-long flood embankment would be built along the right bank of the Gomti River, offering a permanent solution to waterlogging. The project is expected to improve infrastructure, connectivity, and the quality of life for local residents while addressing long-standing issues.
