Lingaraj Temple Road Station Gets Rs 195 Million Upgrade
The Lingaraj Temple Road Railway Station in Bhubaneswar is undergoing a major redevelopment, with an investment of Rs 195 million. The upgrade aims to enhance passenger convenience and cater to the increasing flow of commuters and pilgrims visiting the iconic Lingaraj Temple.
The redevelopment plan includes several passenger-friendly features, such as a 12-metre-wide foot overbridge to ease inter-platform movement and dedicated parking zones for two- and three-wheelers. A 130 sq.m. air-conditioned waiting lounge is being built to provide added comfort for travelers.
Other enhancements include modern modular toilets, platforms paved with granite and mosaic tiles, and the construction of a new cafeteria and commercial zone. To protect passengers from the elements, 29 new platform shelter bays will be installed. Additionally, upgraded digital display systems will offer real-time train and coach information.
Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi recently inspected the progress of the modernisation work and stated that the station will be ready for inauguration by October 31, 2025. Once completed, the station promises a cleaner, safer, and more comfortable experience for both regular commuters and pilgrims.
