The Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) is facing resistance over land acquisition for the 52-km Bengaluru Business Corridor-2 (BBC-2) project. Recent notices issued for both the 2005 and 2006 alignments have triggered protests, as many landowners built houses and other structures on the land earmarked for acquisition between Madavara and Magadi Road, covering 250 acres. 

According to officials, some of these constructions are illegal, but affected residents argue that the revised 2006 alignment had left their properties out of acquisition plans. With the new notices, they are now facing displacement. The 2005 preliminary notification was never officially cancelled to avoid de-notification complexities, leading to confusion when fresh acquisition notices were issued. 

The situation escalated two months ago when nearly 200 landowners stormed BDA’s Kengeri office to protest power disconnections. BDA had instructed Bescom to cut electricity to homes along the BBC-2 alignment, citing them as unauthorized structures. 

Meanwhile, tenders for the Bengaluru Business Corridor-1 (BBC-1) remain stalled due to unresolved compensation disputes, further delaying the overall project.
