According to VK Prasanth, MLA overseeing the project, tenders for demolishing existing structures on the acquired land will be floated within two weeks, and the process is expected to conclude within a month. Following this, the construction tender will be issued in January 2024 to ensure work begins within the current financial year.

Spanning 874 meters, the flyover will stretch from Lourdes Church at Peroorkada to St. Jude Church at Vazhuthacaud. The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB)-funded project is estimated to cost Rs 106.76 crore, with Rs 55.42 crore allocated for construction and Rs 43.39 crore for land acquisition. The project requires around four acres of land and involves demolishing approximately 25 shops on both sides of the road for widening purposes.

Designed to address the severe traffic congestion at Peroorkada junction, where four major roads converge, the flyover aims to provide a permanent solution to bottlenecks that signals alone could not resolve. The affected roads lead to key destinations such as Nedumangad and Kudappanakunnu, making the junction a critical transit point for daily commuters.

The foundation stone for the project was laid in November 2021 by Public Works Department Minister PA Mohamed Riyas. Efforts have been made to minimize disruption to commercial establishments and residences, ensuring a balance between infrastructure growth and community needs.

Once completed, the flyover is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and enhance connectivity, fulfilling a long-standing demand of motorists and commuters in the region.
