Kerala Aims to Become an EV Manufacturing Hub
In a bold move to spearhead advancements in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, the state of Kerala is actively seeking investments from both domestic and international players. The goal is to transform its capital, Thiruvananthapuram, into a central hub for automotive technology. Kerala's Industries Minister, P Rajeeve, revealed the state's ambitious plans during a recent press conference.
"Kerala is already leading the EV sales in the nation," Minister Rajeeve stated. "We've established a solid ecosystem and infrastructure for electric charging. Currently, we are in discussions with several companies about setting up manufacturing units here. Notably, Mahindra is scheduled for discussions next week, and we have other international companies showing keen interest."
This initiative is part of a larger effort by the Kerala government to capitalize on the growing demand for environmentally friendly transportation solutions. By inviting major players like Mahindra, as well as firms from abroad, Kerala aims to not only boost its economy but also set a benchmark in the EV industry across India.
