KEC International and BNCPPL win Nagpur Metro Phase 2 contracts

KEC International Ltd. and BNC Power Projects Ltd. (BNCPPL) have emerged as the lowest bidders for two electrification packages, TR-02 and TR-03, under the Nagpur Metro Phase 2 project, which spans 43.8 km.

KEC International won Package TR-02 with a bid of Rs 2.07 billion, slightly exceeding the estimated Rs 2.05 billion. This package involves the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a 25kV flexible overhead equipment (OHE) system and sectioning posts across at-grade and elevated sections.

BNC Power secured Package TR-03 with a bid of Rs 3.81 billion after a discount, 10.72% above the Rs 3.44 billion estimate. It includes the installation and commissioning of a 33kV cable network, Auxiliary Substation (ASS), Receiving Substation (RSS), and SCADA system, potentially sending it to the negotiation table.

Technical bids for these packages were opened earlier this year, attracting competition from Siemens-RVNL JV, Texmaco Rail and Engineering, and Kalpataru Projects International. The contracts have a timeline of 180 weeks (approximately 3.5 years).

The Nagpur Metro Phase 2 project, aimed at expanding the city's metro network, will improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion by linking key areas. The electrification works will play a critical role in ensuring smooth operations. Other system-related packages, such as E&M-02 and T-01, have been awarded to Colossus Infra and Rahee Infratech, respectively, as Maha-Metro accelerates the project’s construction to enhance Nagpur’s public transport infrastructure.
