Kanpur Metro to Develop Green Belt on Baradevi-Naubasta Section

KANPUR: Kanpur Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC) has announced plans to develop a green belt along the Baradevi-Naubasta section of the metro corridor. This initiative aims to enhance the environmental sustainability of the metro project by creating green spaces that will not only beautify the area but also contribute to local biodiversity.

The proposed green belt will cover the stretch between Baradevi and Naubasta stations, incorporating landscaped gardens and tree plantations. This development aligns with KMRC's commitment to eco-friendly infrastructure and urban development practices.

According to officials, the green belt will not only act as a visual buffer along the metro route but also provide a much-needed green lung for the city. It is expected to improve air quality, mitigate urban heat island effects, and offer a recreational space for residents.

The project underscores KMRC's holistic approach to sustainable urban transport infrastructure, integrating environmental conservation with public transit development. With the green belt initiative, Kanpur Metro aims to set a precedent for eco-sensitive metro projects in India, promoting a harmonious coexistence between urban development and environmental preservation.

The development of the green belt is slated to commence soon, with authorities finalising the detailed landscaping plans and ecological assessments for the area. Kanpur residents and stakeholders eagerly anticipate the positive impacts of this green initiative on the city's urban landscape and ecological health.
