JSW Energy Synchronises Unit 2 at Utkal Thermal Plant in Odisha

JSW Energy announced the successful synchronisation of Unit 2 at its Utkal Thermal Power Plant in Odisha, bringing its operational generation capacity to 3,858 MW.

Following the acquisition of the plant under NCLT proceedings in December 2022, JSW Energy has revived and synchronised all 700 MW (2x350 MW) at the plant in just 24 months.

The plant, which runs on domestic coal, will support the nation’s rising base load demand, providing critical energy security.

The commissioning of Unit 2 increases JSW Energy’s operating thermal capacity to 3,858 MW, part of its broader goal of achieving a 20 GW target before 2030 and reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.
