JSW Defence Signs Rs 8 Bn MoU with Telangana for UAV Plant


JSW Defence has entered into an agreement with the Telangana government to establish a facility in the state for the production of Unmanned Aerial Systems. According to a statement by JSW Defence, JSW UAV, a fully owned subsidiary of the company, will invest Rs 8 billion in setting up the unit in Telangana. The investment will be made through a technology collaboration with a prominent US-based defence technology company. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Parth Jindal of JSW Group during the World Economic Forum (WEF) event.

Parth Jindal expressed that the MoU highlights JSW’s strong commitment to contributing to the indigenisation of defence technology in India. Meanwhile, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao mentioned that Hyderabad and Telangana have long been recognized globally as leaders in software and pharmaceuticals. He added that with a clear vision and consistent efforts, the state is now positioning itself as a leader in manufacturing investments across various sectors, including semiconductors, defence, private space, and FMCG.
