Jewar Airport Expansion: 1,200 Hectares Acquired from Six Villages
The Gautam Budh Nagar district administration has acquired 1,181 hectares of land from six villages—Shnera, Kurayb, Karauli Bangar, Dayanatpur, Veerampur, and Mudharh—for the second-phase expansion of Noida International Airport in Jewar. The land has been handed over to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority for development.
Additional District Magistrate Bachchu Singh confirmed that the acquisition was conducted under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency Act in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act (RFCTLARR), 2013. Among the total land, 14 hectares were obtained from Dayanatpur (3 hectares), Veerampur (3 hectares), and Mudharh (7 hectares). Efforts are underway to complete acquisitions in three additional villages.
In another development, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved a new elevated road connecting the DND Flyway to Mahamaya Flyover in Noida. Proposed by Lucknow MLA Rajeshwar Singh and greenlit by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the 4-5 km flyover aims to reduce congestion along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, benefiting around 500,000 vehicles daily.
This elevated road will alleviate jams caused by traffic converging from Delhi’s Ashram and Sarai Kale Khan, particularly near Film City in Sector-16 to Mahamaya Flyover.
Alongside the ongoing widening of the DND Loop, the flyover is expected to provide long-term relief. A feasibility study will soon be conducted to move the project forward.
