Jaipur Airport Finalises Commissioning of Parallel Taxiway

Jaipur International Airport completed the commissioning of a 3,065-metre parallel taxiway. A stretch of 765 metres of the parallel taxiway was inaugurated on the same day after receiving all regulatory approvals.

With the completion of the extension, the previously 2,300-metre parallel taxiway was extended to its full length of 3,065 metres. An official spokesperson mentioned that this development marks a significant advancement in the airport’s infrastructure, enhancing operational efficiency and safety.

In the first phase, the 2,300-meter parallel taxiway had been commissioned in 2023 to reduce runway occupancy time and ensure seamless aircraft movement. The spokesperson added that in the final phase, the remaining 765-metre segment was completed, creating a continuous and uninterrupted pathway for aircraft movement. The new taxiway also features a state-of-the-art lighting system, ensuring safe operations under all weather conditions.

The design of the new taxiway includes multiple entry and exit points to facilitate smoother and more controlled aircraft movements. Officials explained that a parallel taxiway allows for simultaneous aircraft movements, significantly reducing waiting times for take-offs and landings. An official from Jaipur Airport stated that this improvement is expected to increase the airport’s capacity to handle more flights, accommodating the growing demand for air travel. With the completion of the parallel taxiway, the airport is now well-positioned to manage future increases in air traffic.
