Industry dept & GatiShakti univ sign MoU for PM Gati Shakti Plan
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, announced a collaboration with GatiShakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) aimed at advancing India's infrastructure and logistics sectors. As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed, GSV would serve as the central agency across India, responsible for designing, developing, and delivering courses and curriculum related to the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan and National Logistics Policy at various centres in different states.
Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles, mentioned that PM GatiShakti would evolve into a global planning tool. He recognized the significance of GSV, which focuses on skill development and capacity building for logistics professionals, contributing to the formalization of the logistics sector. Over 16 Central Ministries, including NITI Aayog and CBC, collaborated for the MoU signing, marking the culmination of three essential visions: smarter planning and implementation, structured specialized development, and capacity building.
Goyal emphasised that this collaboration would infuse academic rigor into the PM GatiShakti approach, resulting in reduced logistics costs, efficient logistics, and the fostering of a competitive business ecosystem. He believed that this initiative would create a positive cycle of growth, aligning with the vision of Amrit Kaal. The MoU represents a new chapter in India's logistics and infrastructure narrative, propelling comprehensive development in the logistics sector and propelling India's journey towards becoming a Vishwaguru.
