Indore, Ujjain See Surge in Property Registrations

The cities of Indore and Ujjain have experienced a remarkable rise in property registrations in 2024, fueled by ongoing developmental projects and the anticipation of the 2028 Simhastha Kumbh. In total, the 15 districts of the Malwa-Nimar region saw 579,145 property documents registered, generating a substantial Rs 4.97 billion in revenue for the government.

The major driver of this growth has been the extensive infrastructure projects underway in the region. The proposed metropolitan area, encompassing Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, and Dhar, combined with large-scale developments like the Indore-Ujjain road widening, metro rail, and the western ring road, have attracted significant investments and increased property demand.

Indore recorded 175,737 property registrations in 2024, showing a slight growth of 3,289 documents compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, Ujjain saw a more substantial rise, with 79,229 documents registered, marking an increase of 4,278 from 2023.

These rising property registrations have translated into a considerable surge in government revenue. Indore contributed Rs 2,439.10 crore, a 6.43% increase from the previous year. Ujjain also saw a notable rise, generating Rs 483.95 crore, reflecting a 10.52% growth.

While Indore and Ujjain led the charge, districts like Neemuch showed minimal growth, registering only 12 additional documents. However, districts such as Dhar, Agar Malwa, and Mandsaur experienced significant increases in registrations.

Balakrishna More, Deputy Inspector General of Registration for the Indore-Ujjain division, highlighted that the growth is largely attributed to Indore's status as a commercial hub and the ongoing development projects in both cities. With mega projects like Mahakaal Lok, the metropolitan region plan, and the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh, Ujjain, in particular, has attracted significant investment from industries and hotels, further driving the demand for property in the region.
