Indora Metro station nears opening in Nagpur
The long-awaited Indora Square Metro Station in Nagpur has moved closer to becoming operational following a critical safety inspection conducted by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), Janak Kumar Garg. The inspection focused on compliance with safety protocols, and a report detailing any required changes is expected shortly. Officials from MahaMetro have assured that the station will be operational in the near future.
Part of Nagpur Metro's Phase-1, the Indora Square Metro Station has experienced considerable delays. While the rest of Phase-1 became operational in December 2022, construction of the Indora station was delayed due to prolonged land acquisition issues. Initiated in 2016, the acquisition process was only finalised in October 2022, allowing construction to commence in November 2022.
Once inaugurated, Indora Square Metro Station will serve as a critical stop on the Orange Line’s North-South corridor, significantly enhancing accessibility for thousands of commuters. The station is anticipated to boost the overall efficiency of Nagpur’s metro network and help alleviate traffic congestion in the surrounding areas. MahaMetro officials have stated that final preparations are underway to ensure the station meets all safety and operational standards ahead of its imminent launch.
