According to the latest data from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), the total renewable energy generation capacity, including small and large hydro, biomass, co-generation, and waste-to-energy, reached 201,457.91 MW. This includes 90,762 MW from solar energy and 47,363 MW from wind energy.

Currently, non-fossil fuel-based power capacity accounts for 46.3% of India's total installed electricity generation capacity. The leading states in renewable energy production are Rajasthan (31.5 GW), Gujarat (28.3 GW), Tamil Nadu (23.7 GW), and Karnataka (22.3 GW).

Since 2014, India has seen an impressive 86% increase in power generation from renewable sources, rising from 193.5 billion units (BU) to 360 BU. Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the country's renewable energy capacity has surged by 175%, from 75 GW to over 200 GW.

In addition to its renewable energy goals, India is also making strides in the green shipping sector, aiming to become one of the top 10 shipbuilding nations by 2030 and among the top five by 2047.
