India and Bangladesh officials discuss land port infra development
On November 11, 2024, officials from Bangladesh arrived in New Delhi to join Indian counterparts for discussions on enhancing infrastructure at land ports along the India-Bangladesh border. The 6th Subgroup meeting between the Land Port Authority of India (LPAI) and the Bangladesh Land Port Authority (BLPA) centres on expanding infrastructure at existing ports and exploring new avenues to improve trade and connectivity between the two nations.
The LPAI emphasised that the meeting underscores both nations' commitment to strengthening cross-border infrastructure, aiming to facilitate smoother trade and travel. Building on prior agreements, the discussions reflect a shared dedication to regional economic integration and cooperation.
The Bangladesh delegation is also scheduled to visit the Rupaidiah land port, located on the Uttar Pradesh-Nepal border, on November 14. This field visit will provide delegates with a firsthand look at operational facilities and allow them to assess opportunities for further development at critical cross-border points, according to the LPAI.
