Hyderabad Civic Body Demolishes Five-Storey Building in Gachibowli

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) demolished a five-storey illegal building in Gachibowli. The building, constructed about two years ago, had been built without proper permission from the civic authorities. It consisted of four floors and a penthouse, with a total of 12 rooms, all squeezed into a compact plot measuring only 50 square yards.

GHMC officials stated that half of the building's pillars had been damaged due to excavation work carried out by the owner of the neighbouring plot. This neighbouring plot, covering 200 square yards, had been excavated without the necessary setbacks.

The municipality filed a complaint against the owner for the unauthorised basement excavation. Following this, the Madhapur police registered a case against the accused. GHMC is consulting legal experts to determine possible action against the owner, who not only constructed the building without permission but also continues to pay regular utility bills for water and electricity.
