Housing Sales Dip 23% in Q1 2025
Housing sales across nine major Indian cities are projected to decline by 23% in Q1 2025, while new supply is expected to shrink by 34%, according to a PropEquity report. Rising property prices and geopolitical uncertainties have contributed to this slowdown.
Key Market Trends Total sales: 1,05,791 units (down from 1,36,702 units in Q1 2024) New supply: 80,774 units (down from 1,22,365 units last year) Only Delhi-NCR & Bengaluru show positive growth, while all other cities witness a decline
Regional Impact The traditionally high-supply markets of Hyderabad, Pune, and Thane saw a combined drop of 28,227 units compared to last year. Their share in total housing launches fell from 38% in Q1 2024 to 29% in Q1 2025.
Despite the slowdown, experts believe the market still has strong underlying demand. While cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad continue to see declines, Bengaluru and Delhi-NCR remain bright spots in India’s real estate landscape.
