Housing plans in Maharashtra delayed due to online system


Numerous housing developments in Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, Thane, and the state have been delayed by the state's online system for building plan approvals.

Last Monday, the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA)-Navi Mumbai Centre reminded the additional chief secretary-urban development of the difficulties and requested action.

Architects have voiced concerns about the BPMS (Building Plan Management System) and COPAS (Cidco's Online Plan Approval System) systems that have contradicted their fundamental purpose of development and implementation, including approval delays, a lack of hierarchical coordination, software malfunctions, etc.

Both the state IT department's BPMS and the Cidco-developed online building plan 'COPAS', both of which were released in 2015, are currently in use.
