Interested bidders are required to pay a document fee of ?29,500 ($351.69), a document processing fee of ?1.5 million ($17,880.38) plus 18% GST, and an earnest money deposit of ?500,000 ($5,956.85). Additionally, a performance bank guarantee of ?1.25 million/MW ($14,901.89/MW) is required.

The scope of work involves setting up the BESS and ensuring its connection to the state transmission network. The system must be charged using power from Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO) and must be capable of operating on-demand as directed by the State Load Dispatch Center (SLDC) in consultation with GUVNL.

Bidders must ensure the BESS is available for at least two operational cycles per day and guarantee a minimum system availability of 95% annually. Non-compliance will incur liquidated damages at twice the capacity charges for any unavailable capacity.

Eligible bidders must possess operational technologies to mitigate technology risks and ensure timely project completion. Their net worth should be at least ?7.4 million/MW (~$88,217.99) of the quoted capacity as of the last day of the previous financial year or seven days before the bid submission deadline.

Recently, GUVNL also invited bids for purchasing power from 500 MW of grid-connected solar projects across India, with a green shoe option for an additional 500 MW. In June 2024, Gensol Engineering secured GUVNL?s auction for setting up pilot projects of 250 MW/500 MWh standalone BESS in Gujarat under tariff-based global competitive bidding (Phase III).
