Gurugram Metro: Rs 54.5 Billion Expansion

Gurugram’s metro network is set for a Rs 54.5 billion expansion to improve connectivity across Millennium City Centre, Old Gurugram, and Cyber City. The 28.5 km corridor will feature 27 new stations, easing congestion and boosting urban mobility.

Construction is scheduled to begin on May 1, 2025, with the Haryana government investing Rs 45.5 billion, while the central government contributes Rs 8.9 billion. The metro is expected to serve 540,000 daily commuters initially, with ridership projected to rise to 726,000 by 2031.

To ensure smooth transit, the project will include five underpasses and flyovers. The metro will operate at a top speed of 80 km/h and feature a Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) system for enhanced efficiency and safety.

With completion targeted in four years, the expansion will modernise Gurugram’s transport infrastructure, making daily commutes faster and supporting the city’s growth as a key economic hub.
