Gujarat sanctions Rs 48k cr for infra projects


The Gujarat Government has sanctioned a sum of Rs 48,736 crore for 2.84 lakh projects. The government added that while the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana has been extended until 2026-27, cities of Gujarat have also received a sum of Rs 18,395 crore from the Union government under various schemes.

The statement said that Gujarat is one of the most urbanised states of the country and over the past two decades, there has been a focus on strengthening public infrastructure and civic amenities through innovative and futuristic projects.

?The GIFT City, Surat Diamond Bourse, Dholera SIR, and Sabarmati Riverfront have brought about a transformation in infrastructure and amenities,? the statement said.

The statement said that the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana was started when PM Modi was state chief minister and a large number of schemes, including basic infrastructure schemes, stormwater lines, lake beautification projects, road works, water supply projects, street light works and the likes have been completed through grants provided under the scheme.

Additionally, social infrastructure projects like urban health centres, hospitals, anganwadis, libraries and sports complexes are also being funded under the scheme. The government recently expanded the scope of the scheme to fund urban transport, traffic management projects, railway overbridges and underbridges, ring roads and flyovers. ?Over 2.84 lakh projects worth Rs 48,736 crore have been sanctioned under the scheme so far,? the statement added.
