Govt approves six projects under Sagarmala scheme in Andhra Pradesh


Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of ports, shipping and waterways, announced that six projects have been approved in Andhra Pradesh under the Sagarmala scheme, which plans to improve the capacity of major and non-major ports and modernisation.

The minister told the media that six projects have been approved.

Sonowal said that the projects are worth Rs 85.83 crore, out of which Rs 43 crore has been approved.

The projects are: Visakhapatnam Port construction of a coastal berth, a passenger jetty each at Bhavani Island, Bheemunipatnam, and Kalingapatnam seaplane jetty and upgrading the existing jetty in Kakinada.

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is a branch of the Indian government.
