Foundation laying event of Noida airport project likely in October

The foundation stone laying ceremony of the Noida International airport project is likely to be held in October.

The CEO of Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), Arun Vir Singh, said over 90% of the families affected by the project had begun building their homes in the rehabilitation township of Jewar Bangar.

Of the 3,003 plots that have been allocated to villagers in Jewar Bangar, development work has begun on approximately 2,730 of them. Some families have already started staying in their new houses, he said.

The stone laying ceremony was supposed to take place in August last week. But, sources said that the death of the former BJP chief minister Kalyan Singh and the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan held the Prime Minister’s office and the state government busy.

The concessionaire of the airport project has already begun work on the ground. The foundation event has yet to be decided by the state government. The authority is focused on getting the commercial operations commenced within the next three years and enhancing the accessibility and connectivity of the Yamuna Expressway region with other parts of NCR, Singh said.

According to sources, on the same day, the Film City project could also be unveiled.

On Wednesday, the bid document of the Film City project will be ready, officials said.

Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) CEO Singh said the consultant, CBRE, had already prepared the detailed project report and would submit it on Wednesday.
