Energy Conservation Not Just Necessity but Responsibility: Odisha Deputy CM


Odisha's Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo emphasized on Saturday that energy conservation is not merely a necessity but a vital responsibility for each citizen to ensure a sustainable future for the coming generations. Singh Deo, who also holds the energy department portfolio, spoke at the state-level National Energy Conservation Day event. He stressed that energy conservation initiatives should not just be confined to seminars and conferences but must be incorporated into daily life. The Deputy CM also urged for a greater reliance on renewable energy instead of coal-based power to combat climate change. He highlighted the importance of energy conservation in mitigating global warming. "Let’s unite to conserve energy, tackle climate change, and engage future generations in this crucial practice," he stated. During the event, an exhibition was held where students from 30 districts showcased various energy conservation models. In addition, energy-efficient devices, electric vehicles, and solar panels were displayed. A quiz competition on energy conservation was conducted at the block and district levels, with the top 30 participants being honored. The competition attracted 1,50,000 contestants from classes 7 to 10 across the state.
