As part of the Indian Railways’ ambitious Amrit Station Scheme, Bhubaneswar Railway Station is undergoing a comprehensive redevelopment to enhance passenger experience and urban mobility. This transformative project aims to modernise the station with state-of-the-art infrastructure, improved accessibility, and seamless connectivity. Key Features of the Redevelopment Plan: • Elevated driveway with dual-side entry for streamlined traffic movement. • Expansive air-concourse connecting all platforms for effortless transit. • Dedicated entry and exit points to optimize crowd management. • Enhanced passenger amenities, including lifts, escalators, and a dedicated baggage security check-in area. • Upgraded facilities, such as an information centre, food plaza, and spacious waiting lounges, ensuring superior travel comfort. The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) will facilitate land allocation for the elevated driveway, while additional infrastructure—comprising parking zones and commercial spaces—will be seamlessly integrated within the station premises. This redevelopment is a cornerstone of the Odisha government’s Rs 70 billion urban infrastructure initiative, aimed at bolstering the city's connectivity and easing congestion. Key projects under this initiative include: • An elevated corridor from Jayadev Vihar to Nandankanan Zoo for decongesting major traffic routes. • Road expansions along Daya West Canal Road, linking Patia Station Square to Suanga Mouza. • New flyovers at Kalpana Square, Museum Square, and Sishu Bhawan Square, complemented by an underpass at AG Square. Together, these strategic developments promise to redefine Bhubaneswar’s urban landscape, offering a world-class transit experience for railway passengers while fostering sustainable and efficient mobility solutions.
