Eastern Railway Sets Record with Highest-Ever Freight Loading


Eastern Railway has achieved a historic milestone in the 2024–25 fiscal year, surpassing the 100-million-tonne mark in freight loading.

The Kolkata-headquartered railway division recorded an unprecedented 100.28 million tonnes of originating freight loading—its highest ever, an official confirmed on Monday.

This marks a remarkable 15.4 per cent increase from its previous record of 86.89 million tonnes in the 2023–24 fiscal, reaffirming Eastern Railway’s growing efficiency and operational capacity
