DTCP seals a building in DLF-2 due to a violation of norms in Gurugram

Following the cancellation of Occupation Certificates (OC) for 41 | residential properties for various violations last week, the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) not only cancelled the OC of a residential building in DLF-2 on Monday but also sealed the premises and filed an FIR against the owner.

Officials told the media that the DTCP enforcement team visited the site after receiving a complaint from a resident and discovered unauthorised construction, zoning violations in stilt areas, and filling of cutouts in violation of the OC norms.

The OC of any building is automatically revoked if the property owner changes the permitted use of the building or erects any additional construction or alteration in the said building without the approval of the competent authority, according to regulations. Furthermore, if the property owner occupies the portion of the building for which the OC was granted and later commits violations, legal action will be taken.

In this case, the officials told the media that the OC was withdrawn and cancelled because the building owner has deliberately broken the terms of the stipulated rules and is continuing to do so.

If the property owner fails to restore the building, the department will take appropriate action.

According to a senior official from the enforcement team, during the recent drive, 41 property owners were found to violate the terms and conditions of the sanctions granted to them under the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act 1975, and it is being recommended that an FIR be filed against them as well.
