Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: NHAI to convert 7 roads into 4-lane highway
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has proposed to convert seven roads connecting with the under-construction Delhi-Mumbai Expressway into four-lane highways to facilitate commuters. On Thursday, a senior NHAI official reported to Union minister Nitin Gadkari about the status of ongoing work, its deadline, and new proposals to increase road connectivity with the rest of the country. A senior NHAI official told the media that eight roads are connected with 1,350 km long Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, and of this, only one is a four-lane highway. MP Shankar Lalwani said NHAI has finished the initial survey, and the proposal has been sent to Delhi for approval. The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is under construction and is likely to be finished in March 2023. The expressway is 1350 km long, and the evaluated expense of the project is Rs 1,00,000 crore. The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is a 1,350 km long, eight-lane wide expandable to 12-lane under-construction access-controlled expressway linking New Delhi with Mumbai.
