This 82-kilometre-long corridor will facilitate rapid and efficient transportation, significantly reducing the travel time between Delhi and Meerut to just around 60 minutes. The project includes 24 stations, and once operational, it is expected to serve over 800,000 passengers daily, thus easing congestion on the roads and providing a sustainable transit solution.

Construction on various sections of the corridor is progressing at a brisk pace. The priority section between Sahibabad and Duhai is expected to be operational by 2023, with the entire corridor slated for completion by 2025. The RRTS will feature modern, high-speed trains capable of reaching speeds up to 180 km/h, enhancing the overall efficiency and reliability of the region's transportation network.

The Delhi-Meerut RRTS is part of a broader initiative to develop a network of rapid rail corridors across the National Capital Region (NCR), aiming to integrate various modes of transport and improve regional connectivity. This project is expected to have far-reaching impacts, including reduced vehicular traffic, lower emissions, and stimulated economic development along the corridor.
