Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Track Nears Completion
The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor is nearing full track completion, with 55 km already operational and the entire 82 km stretch expected to be ready soon, according to sources.
Key Highlights of the Project Advanced Track Technology: Unlike conventional ballastless metro and railway tracks, the corridor uses a precast slab track system, specifically designed for high-speed Namo Bharat trains.
Trial Runs Underway:
Namo Bharat trains have already carried 66 lakh passengers since operations began on October 21, 2023. Trials between Meerut South and Shatabdi Nagar started in February. Delhi section trials (Anand Vihar to Sarai Kale Khan) will begin soon. Metro Integration for Meerut: The Meerut Metro service will operate using the same infrastructure, with extensive trial runs already in progress, further improving regional connectivity.
The RRTS project marks a major milestone in India's high-speed rail network, promising faster, seamless, and more efficient urban transit.
