Collins Aerospace Unveils New Engineering Development and Test Center
Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX Corporation, a Virginia-based aerospace and defence conglomerate, has inaugurated its new Engineering Development and Test Centre (EDTC) in Bengaluru. The facility aims to enhance the efficiency of product development, testing, and certification processes, accelerating the introduction of aerospace technologies to the market.
The EDTC will initially support Collins Aerospace’s various business segments, including avionics, advanced structures, interiors, and power and controls. Over time, the scope of the facility is expected to expand, catering to all RTX businesses. This expansion will enable a broader range of aerospace and defence applications and foster shared innovation across the company’s diverse product portfolio.
The facility is equipped to conduct tests that simulate extreme aircraft operating conditions, such as high altitudes, extreme temperatures, vibration, and electromagnetic interference. These capabilities will allow Collins Aerospace to identify potential design improvements early in the development process, enhancing product performance while reducing costs and time-to-market.
The establishment of the EDTC aligns with the company’s strategy to bring advanced testing capabilities closer to its engineering and manufacturing operations. This investment also underscores India’s growing significance in the global aerospace supply chain.
Collins Aerospace has been actively investing in India for over two decades and currently employs more than 6,000 professionals across engineering, digital, manufacturing, operations, and supply chain functions. The new EDTC further strengthens the company’s presence in the country, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and technological advancement in aerospace and defence.
