CM Rio and NFR GM confer on Nagaland railway initiatives


The General Manager (GM) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, held a meeting with the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, to discuss concerns related to the execution of railway projects in the state.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister was assured by the General Manager that railway connectivity in the Dhansiri-Zubza new line project up to Molvom and Pherima would be achieved by September 2024.

It was mentioned by the GM that a goods yard at Molvom would be developed as requested by the state authorities. He expressed commitment to developing rail infrastructure in the state based on its requirements.

According to an update from the NFR?s Chief Public Relations Officer, Rio accepted the NFR?s request to establish a high-level committee in the state to address railway-related issues. The committee will convene quarterly.

The GM stated that the NFR aims to enhance railway infrastructure in the region. This includes the commissioning of the Kohima connectivity project by 2026 and the establishment of direct rail connectivity between Kohima and Imphal. It was mentioned that the reconnaissance engineering-cum-traffic survey for the Zubza-Imphal new line has been completed, and the final location survey is set to begin soon.
