Civil Ministry requests other ministries to promote drones use

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has urged several other ministries, including the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), to encourage different entities under their administrative power to promote the use of drones.

Drones offer many benefits to most of the sectors of the Indian economy, including agriculture, medicine delivery, mining, infrastructure, surveillance, emergency response, transportation, geo-spatial mapping, defence and law enforcement and many more.

According to the Drone Rules 2021, the operation of drones in the red and yellow marked zones on the drone airspace map zones needs permission from the Centre and the Air Traffic Control (ATC) authority, respectively. However, permission is not required for operating drones in the marked green zones, with most drone operations happening.
