Chennai Metro Rail inks pact with Aarvee for Rs 17.4 mn metro corridor

Chennai Metro Rail Ltd has signed a contract with Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants Pvt Ltd to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the metro corridor from Poonamallee to Parandur, which will include 19 elevated stations. The contract is valued at Rs 17.4 million (excluding GST) and is expected to be completed by November 2024.

The proposed 43.63 km corridor will pass through Thirumazhisai and Sriperambudur, connecting to the planned greenfield airport at Parandur. This initiative is part of Chennai Metro Rail's phase II project, which is already progressing between Poonamallee and Porur.

The DPR preparation will take into account recent developments, such as the new airport at Parandur and the proposed bus terminus at Thirumazhisai, along with the future growth potential along the corridor. The project will involve over 100 boreholes for soil investigation and a topographical survey using drones along the entire length.

An extensive alignment study during the DPR stage will finalise the total number of stations and land requirements. This project aims to enhance connectivity and support future growth in the region. (Source: BusinessLine)
