Centre Allocates Rs 77 Crore for Gandikota Development


The central government has approved a grant of Rs 77.91 crore for the development of Gandikota in Andhra Pradesh, following a request made by Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications. The request, made by Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar to Union Minister for Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on November 4, highlighted the need to improve the infrastructure at the historic Gandikota fort to accommodate an increasing number of tourists.

The letter emphasized the necessity of better road access, accommodation facilities, and guided tours. The development of Gandikota as a tourist destination is expected to create employment opportunities and boost the local economy. Additionally, the State government has already submitted a Detailed Project Report outlining the proposed development of the site, which holds significant historical and cultural value.
