The extensive road development project in Central Panaji, led by Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd. (IPSCDL), is progressing well, with Phase 3 nearing completion just in time for the city’s Carnival parade. Traffic movement has been partially restored on the Phase 3 roads, minimising disruptions for residents and visitors. 

The project began earlier this year to enhance the city’s infrastructure while reducing public inconvenience. Phase 1, covering 735 meters, was completed ahead of schedule on January 20, 2025, and included key stretches like MG Road and Swami Vivekananda Road. Phase 2, covering 1,024 meters across MG Road, TB Cunha Road, 18th June Road, and Cunha Rivara Road, was finished on February 7, 2025, further improving connectivity. 

Phase 3, which started on February 8, 2025, covers 1,415 meters and is in its final stages. It includes stretches of MG Road, General Bernardo Guedes Road, General Costa Alvares Road, and several internal lanes. With most roads now open for vehicles, the city is prepared for smooth traffic flow during the Carnival celebrations. 

Phase 4 is set to begin on March 1, 2025, covering 530 meters along MG Road, with completion targeted for March 31, 2025. The final stages, Phases 5 and 6, will focus on bituminous concrete paving, road painting, landscaping, and tree planting between May and June 2025.
