Cabinet approves Rs 28.69 billion for Varanasi airport


The Union Cabinet has approved a Rs 28.69 billion proposal for the expansion of Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi, the Lok Sabha constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The project includes constructing a new terminal building, extending the apron and runway, creating a parallel taxi track, and other related works, according to I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

This proposal by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) aims to increase the airport's passenger handling capacity from the current 3.9 million passengers per annum (MPPA) to 9.9 MPPA. (Source: ZEE Business)
