BMTC Enhances Bus Tracking with Data Shift, App Upgrade
The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has strengthened its digital infrastructure by migrating its Automatic Vehicle Location System (AVLS) data from a temporary cloud set-up to the Karnataka State Data Centre (KSDC). The transition, completed at midnight on January 31, improves data security, processing speed, and system reliability.
As part of this upgrade, BMTC has also launched an enhanced version of its mobile application, ‘Namma BMTC,’ designed to provide real-time tracking for over 5,200 buses, including the latest BS6-compliant and electric vehicles. With this update, commuters can receive live updates on bus locations, estimated arrival times, and route details, ensuring better trip planning.
The migration to KSDC servers brings several benefits, including improved uptime and faster data processing. The app’s redesigned interface offers smoother navigation, making it more user-friendly. This upgrade is expected to enhance the overall efficiency of Bengaluru’s public transport system, providing commuters with a seamless and reliable travel experience.
