BMRCL Gets Train Prototype For Operational Lines

Namma Metro received the prototype of a train manufactured by China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) for its operational lines. BMRCL will carry out tests and trial runs for six to eight months. In 2019, CRRC received a contract to supply 216 Metro cars (36 train sets) for Yellow Line (RV Road to Bommasandra) and operational Purple and Green Lines. Of the 36 trains, 21 six-coach ones will be deployed for the two operational lines. Namma Metro has an operational network of 77km, and patronage has been increasing over the months. However, due to shortage of trains, BMRCL is not in a position to increase frequency of services. Passengers, especially those travelling during peak hours, have been complaining about packed coaches.
