Currently, the Coastal Road has three interchanges at Amarson’s, Haji Ali, and Worli, with Amarson’s being the nearest for Breach Candy residents. However, there is no direct access for Nepean Sea Road, leading to congestion at the Amarson’s interchange.

“Local residents have been demanding for an additional vehicular arm from coastal road considering there’s severe congestion faced by motorists exiting the Amarson’s interchange. I have discussed this proposal with the chief minister also and he is supportive. Therefore, steps should be taken up to go ahead with the project,” Lodha said on Thursday.

Senior civic officials acknowledged the feasibility of the project but warned of additional costs. They also noted that any design changes would require Supreme Court approval, as modifications could impact the existing underpasses.

Lodha has also instructed the BMC to construct a parking lot in Breach Candy to ease parking woes. However, a previous parking project near the Coastal Road was halted due to local protests.
