Bill Presented in Karnataka Assembly to Replace MUDA with New Body

The Mysuru Development Authority Bill was introduced in the Karnataka Assembly. The bill, presented by the Urban Development Minister, Suresh B S, aims to replace the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) with the Mysuru Development Authority (MDA).

Unlike MUDA, which included all legislators from Mysuru and the police commissioner as its members, the MDA will only have two legislators from Karnataka.

As per the bill, the MDA will consist of a Chairperson, a Commissioner who will serve as an ex-officio member, a finance member, an engineer from the Karnataka Engineering Service, a town planner, an architect, a deputy secretary rank officer from the Urban Development Department, two legislators from Karnataka, four members including a woman, and one member from the SC/ST community. Additionally, representatives from the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board, ESCOM, and the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will also be part of the authority.
