BGR Tech, Stargate Hydrogen to Boost Green Hydrogen in India

BGR Tech, a Prenora Investment holding company, has signed an MoU with Estonia-based Stargate Hydrogen to introduce advanced Alkaline Water Electrolyzer (AWE) technology to India. The agreement was signed by BGR Tech Founder & Chairperson Priyadershini Raghupathy and Stargate Hydrogen CEO Marko Virkebau.
Stargate's Stellar Series AWE, operating at up to 32 bar with a single stack capacity of 100 Nm³/h (500 kW), will be integrated into BGR Tech’s Chennai-based pilot plant. The plant, equipped with an Ultra-Pure Water Treatment Unit, Gas Separation Unit, and Hydrogen Purification System, is expected to produce green hydrogen by May 2025. It will serve as an R&D facility to enhance system efficiency.
The partnership aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, focusing on sustainable energy and local manufacturing under the “Make in India” initiative. The Stellar Series electrolyzer was recently unveiled by Estonia’s Ambassador to India, Marje Luup, at India Energy Week 2025, reinforcing both firms’ commitment to India’s clean energy goals.
