Bengaluru to install 250-metre Skydeck near NICE Road
In a significant development, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced that opposition leaders from Bengaluru have agreed to the installation of a 250-metre Skydeck near NICE Road. This declaration was made during a press conference at Vidhana Soudha following a meeting with Bengaluru's elected representatives.
Shivakumar, who also oversees Bengaluru Development, emphasized that the Skydeck project will require approximately 25 acres of land. Although locations near Kommaghatta and Bengaluru University were considered, they were ultimately rejected to avoid disrupting students. The NICE Road site was chosen, following the Supreme Court's directive for NICE to hand over 200 acres to the government.
Other infrastructure initiatives were discussed, including plans for tunnels and signal-free corridors. A tunnel road, stretching 18.5 km, will be constructed from Esteem Mall near Hebbal to Silk Board. This project will commence after Cabinet discussions and necessary land acquisitions. Additionally, plans for a West-to-East tunnel and 100 km of signal-free corridors are underway, with a budget of Rs 120 billion. (Source: Devdiscourse)
